Top 3 Power Strips for your traveling needs
As with the previous post, there will be several criteria to our chosen choice. The power strip must be compact, and it must be able to hold 3 or more power outlets.
Our first candidate would be the Simran SM-60 model. It comes in a glossy black finish that is paired along with a really neat design (not unlike the Monster portable power strip) that helps make the Simran more compact when not in use. Basically what this does is that the power strip has the extension cord wrap around it's own body when not in use to avoid the mass/mess of tangle that you get from the cords of other power strips, but the neat part about it is that it secures the wires by having the head plugged into one of it's output sockets so that the wires would not unravel inside of your luggage or backpack when you are on the go.
This particular model is able to charge up to 3 of your devices at once, which is usually more than enough for your smartphone, camera and your laptop.
Oh and did I mention that all three of it's power outlets are universal? This means you do not have to get adapters for any of the three outlets for your devices. This is clearly the most versatile power adapter in this list.
It is currently retailing on Amazon for USD$18.81, and more information about this product can be found here.
So why then, am I posting this up here if the Simran is clearly the better choice? Well, Monster was one of those who first came up with the wrap-around design that made it's power outlet compact, and if that isn't enough to convince you, does the fact that it enables you to charge up to 4 devices at once without being bigger than the Simran in terms of size sway you even a little?
The advantage is that some charging devices tend to have huge power-heads that might block or hinder the usage of the power outlet next to it. But this problem is non-existent in the Monster power strip, as all it's power outlets are placed a good distance apart from each other. Now, you can truly charge your laptop, camera, smartphone, and your GoPro. All at once.
If you are interested in the Monster MP OTG400, it is being retailed at Amazon for USD$11.12. More information can be found here.
Coming in at USD$12.99 per PowerCube, it is a little on the high side if you are looking to build a power chain. But fret not, 1 cube has the ability to transform a wall outlet into 5 outlets! Imagine how you could benefit your room-mates by having just 3 of them! There is no doubt that in terms of capacity-wise, this is the best. In terms of compactness, it isn't slim, but it is small and you should be able to easily find an empty space to stuff it into, I know I always do.
